Role of Lector

Role of Lector

The documents of the Second Vatican Council remind us that when the Scriptures are read in church God is speaking to his people. The ministry of the Lector is crucial in the celebration of Catholic liturgy. The lector has often been referred to as the storyteller of the community. The lector is tasked with proclaiming the scripture readings to the gathered assembly. This session will explore the Role of the Lector, the Role scripture plays in the celebration of the Liturgy, the presence of Christ in the proclamation, and practical tips for preparation.

This session is open to new and seasoned Lectors, Worship Committee Members, Clergy, and anyone who would like to have a greater understanding of the role of the Word in Catholic liturgy.

• Cost: Free, funded by your donations to the Catholic Services appeal.
