Today, I would like to share some updates about the work of Catholic Charities of Louisville. Recently this long-serving service agency of our Archdiocese completed a strategic plan, held a major fund-raising event, and launched an awareness campaign. I am proud of all that has been accomplished under the leadership of CEO Lisa DeJaco Crutcher, the Board of Directors, led by Deacon Scott Haner, and the staff of the agency:

  • After gathering input from a variety of sources, including archdiocesan leadership and staff, parishes, community organizations through surveys and interviews, and other sources, including the parish discernment process, Catholic Charities finalized a strategic plan early this year. The plan will run from 2021-2023 and has six focus areas – Branding, Engagement, Programs, Social Justice, Revenue, and Staff/Volunteers.  To see the details of this plan, go here.

  • Though by necessity entirely virtual, the recent Rouler 2021 was a big success! Netting more than $114,000 and with 700 people registered, this event raised both funds and greater awareness about the work of Catholic Charities.  I join Lisa and all of the staff in thanking the community partners and volunteers who helped with this effort. Mark your calendars for the next Rouler on March 1, 2022.

  • “You have no idea…” Catholic Charities learned during the strategic planning process that most people have no idea about the breadth and depth of its services. In response, Catholic Charities launched an awareness campaign, featuring the real-life stories of individuals whose lives have been changed and hope restored by Catholic Charities. Click here to view and also be sure to friend Catholic Charities Facebook page to see more inspiring stories roll out over the coming months.  Thanks to Talgrace Marketing, which is providing most of its services for this campaign at cost.

  • Many have asked about the progress of the “Building a Brighter Future” campaign to construct a new Catholic Charities headquarters on the Holy Name Parish campus. As most of you know, plans for construction were held up by a lawsuit related to efforts to claim landmark status over the buildings. The Jefferson County Circuit Court dismissed the lawsuit, and the petitioners appealed this dismissal in late 2020. While legal processes are slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that this situation will be resolved soon allowing construction to commence. To date, Catholic Charities has raised $5.3 million in gifts and pledges.  If you would like to give or learn more about the campaign, please go here.

Catholic Charities of Louisville is a wonderful example of the outreach of our local Church. I look forward to sharing more news as progress continues on all of these great initiatives and more.
